Full Time Summer Employment
Did you know that every CAF Reserve Member is guaranteed Full Time Summer Employment (FTSE) as long as you are within the first four years of your service?
“Reservists in their first four years, who so desire, can expect to be employed for the whole summer where they will primarily participate in individual training and various summer tasks typical of the ARes, such as participation in exercises and ceremonial duties,” LCol Hatton explained. “All while earning a very decent wage and gaining valuable work experience (Poitras and Fouchard, 2018) .”
Am I eligible?
- As long as you are within your first
four years of service you are eligible. If you are over four years then FTSE is not guaranteed.
When is FTSE offered?
-FTSE is available from 01 May to 31 August every year. You can choose to work part of this or the whole four months.
Does FTSE include summer training?
- Yes, FTSE means Full Time Summer Employment and summer training courses are a form of employment. Summer courses and FTSE can go hand in hand.
If I sign up for FTSE does that mean I'm guaranteed a course?
Absolutely not- FTSE means that you will be employed by the army, it does not imply what that employment will be. Your tasks on FTSE (and of you’re loaded on a course) will be determined by your CoC.
How do I sign up for FTSE?
- FTSE is available through your Chain of Command (CoC). Ask your CoC about FTSE.
